learn Spanish in Argentina

Although you should not waste the once in a lifetime opportunity to study out of the country by slacking off and missing classes, you should not bury yourself in school work, either. It is true that you do not get the opportunity to learn Spanish in Argentina everyday and thus, the chance to do so need to be taken seriously. But it would be a darned shame to let the exotic beauty, culture and people of Argentina remain undiscovered during your time there. For instance, you can spend weekends visiting the breathtaking sites of Quilmes ruins and enjoying the views and trekking the surrounding area. Or if you feel like going on a road trip, you can traipse on to Buenos Aires for a little weekend shopping spree. If you are not too hung over the night before, you can go antique shopping at San Telmo market or visit the Evita museum.

But if sightseeing and shopping isn’t your cup of tea and you prefer to earn a little extra cash during weekends, why not choose to offer English language tutorials? If you have been in Argentina a few months, it may be a good idea to start offering English language tutorials to school age kids living in your neighborhood. You can teach English while you in turn are trying to learn Spanish in Buenos Aires. It would be better to introduce yourself to their parents and ask if they would like their kids to learn English during weekends. You do not have to charge an arm and a leg for the lessons, keep that in mind, but you at least would have something to do during weekends. Besides, if you are not up to seeing what beauty Argentina has to offer, you may as well do something productive (why did you study abroad if you won’t go sightseeing, anyway?).

Prior to shopping or sightseeing and partying or tutoring school age children in Argentina, you have to keep a few things in mind first. You have to first be accepted to the study abroad program. If you want to spend a semester abroad in Argentina, you need to learn about all of the requirements and any grade average the program may ask from you. Take the time to study everything you need to know and decide very carefully if this is really something you want to do. Other than the fact that studying out of the country is wonderful and truly is a once in lifetime opportunity, it is also a challenge not all students will be up to; one that requires one hundred percent commitment. So before you make up your mind, take the time to learn more about the programs.
